Job Title: Part-time Community Engagement Collaborator
Location: Hybrid
Job Type: Contract
Sidewalk Detroit exists to celebrate public and creative life through the lens of arts, culture and deep engagement with residents. We seek to improve livability for residents through the promotion of spatial equity and strong social infrastructure. Our emphasis is on public art, neighborhood place-keeping, and equitable access to urban greenspace. We facilitate processes in which residents reclaim their spaces and envision a joyful, protected and connected future. This is done through the utilization of engagement methods which are rooted in social justice, restorative justice, and equity.
Position Overview:
The part-time Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for working alongside the Community Engagement Strategist on engagement strategy, event management and data analysis resulting from community engagement events. This role requires proficient communication skills, comfort with engaging a diverse array of community dynamics and professions, and a keen understanding and use of data and visualization tools.
What to Expect:
Within this position, you’ll work with clients who are often municipal leaders, city planners, and designers. As projects we accept can often be beyond Detroit’s boundaries, there are requirements of travel which are covered within project budgets. Please expect to travel for overnight and day-long trips as needed. This would be communicated ahead of time. Otherwise, our day-to-day work takes place within a hybrid schedule of in-person (Tuesdays + Thursdays) and online (Mondays and Wednesdays). The Community Engagement Collaborator will be expected to attend in-person meetings as needed.
How to apply:
In lieu of a cover letter, please answer the following questions along with submitting your resume and two references who can attest to relevant work experience. Please limit question responses to no more than one page.
Please describe your relationship to the city of Detroit, and why it is important.
